My work is not about beauty or any forms of beautification of something or an investigation of any type of artistic/aesthetic principals. I have no interest in beauty or aesthetics. But rather the contrary, my work is about deformation, transformation, sometime the ugliest, the destroying and the destruction. It is the destruction of the process and the process of becoming that I am exploring.
It is through this process of destroying and becoming that I am trying to define and redefine the role and the meaning of being a subject vs. an object in our culture and my own existence. As a subject experiencing fear, madness, suffering, pain, anger, sadness and happiness or as an object experiencing emptiness and being soulless.
My work maybe is a portraiture of myself in the process of destroying and becoming or in the process of becoming a process - a process of a portrait of fear, a portrait of suffering, a portrait of madness, a portrait of guilt and etc. The works does not suggest any form of final realization of these notions, but are contained in a process of struggling between the 2 cultures - the asian and western cultures as subject/object.
